CAMERATA ORPHICA is an international chamber and symphony orchestra of outstanding musicians based in Vienna and Sofia. Starting in 2007, the artistic director Mario Hossen built up the solid core of the orchestra consisting of professional artists – including many prize winners of both national and international competitions and principal musicians of the leading symphony orchestras of the Danube States . The orchestra has had the honour of playing with the following eminent soloists: the pianists Adrian Oetiker, Brigitte Meyer, Milena Mollova and Ludmil Angelov, the violinists Gérard Poulet, Dong- Suk Kang and Takashi Shimizu, the violists Gérard Causse and Wolfgang Klos, the cellists Dominique de Williencourt and Anton Niculescu, the flutist Philippe Bernold, the oboist Hansjörg Schellenberger, the trumpet virtuoso Romain Leleu, and the tenor Boiko Zvetanov. Conductors have included Jean Ferrandis, Christoph Hagel, Joel Mathias Jenny, Vladimir Kiradjiev, Felix Carrasco, Guenter Pichler, Amaury du Closel, Nayden Todorov, Alexis Hauser and François-Pierre Descamps. Each of these musicians has important contribution creating the sound and the quality of the orchestra. CAMERATA ORPHICA – Vienna Les Orpheistes has repeatedly demonstrated its high quality and capability in concerts and on tours of Austria, Bulgaria, Spain, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey and Japan. Various CD recordings of works by Bach, Vivaldi, Geminiani, Tartini, Stamitz, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Bruch, Paganini, Kreisler, Tchaikovsky, Arnaudov, Bischof and Williencourt bear witness to the orchestra’s high musical and technical standard.

Hailed for his artistry, virtuosity and charismatic presence on stage MARIO HOSSEN the artistic director of CAMERATA ORPHICA received his musical education in Sofia, Vienna and Paris. He made his debut as a soloist with an orchestra at the age of eight. His teachers included great pedagogues such as Michael Frischenschlager and Gérard Poulet. As a concert soloist of international acclaim, MARIO HOSSEN has performed with renowned orchestras such as the English Chamber Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Chamber Orchestra della Scala di Milano, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the Royal Philharmonic, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra and the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie. Hossen’s concert activities have taken him to the USA (Carnegie Hall), Austria (Vienna Konzerthaus, Brucknerhaus Linz), Switzerland (Victoria Hall Geneva, Tonhalle Zürich), Spain (Auditorio Nacional Madrid, Palau de la Música Barcelona, Festival International de Santander), Canada, Mexico, China, Russia (Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow) and Japan. He has performed together with outstanding musicians like Vladimir Fedoseyev, Bruno Canino, Philippe Bernold, Leslie Howard, Guenter Pichler, Adrian Oetiker, Gérard Causse, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Leon Bosch, Dominique de Williencourt, Georges Pludermacher and Jean-Bernard Pommier, to mention just a few.

He is one of the finest interpreters of Paganini, not only as a impeccable violinists from a technical point of view but also refined readers of Paganini’s music. The recently recorded the violin Concerts and Pieces with Scordatura are a philological version, based on the original manuscripts, recorded for Dynamic after several years of deep research. 

Univ. Prof. Dr. MARIO HOSSEN is artistic director of the International Music Academy and Festival Orpheus in Vienna and holder of many prestigious awards, recently he received the Municipality of Sofia and FM Classic Radio award– Musician of the Year 2015.  MARIO HOSSEN is an artist allied with “Thomastik Infeld” of Vienna, and plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, Milan 1749, on loan from the Österreichische Nationalbank’s collection.
